James R. Sanders

James Sanders is an experienced attorney with a deep and comprehensive knowledge of business law, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Combining extensive legal expertise with a strong foundation in business strategy, James provides sophisticated and practical counsel tailored to the complex needs of business owners and corporate clients.

After graduating from Pitt Law school and Pitt Business school with dual degrees in Law and a Masters in Business Administration, James began his professional career as an Equity Analyst, tracking diverse sectors for leading financial institutions including Standard & Poor’s, Citigroup, and Bessemer Trust. James further honed his strategic and operational expertise in a senior role at ITT Corporation’s Fluid Handling business. For seven years, he owned and operated multiple Safeguard Franchises, specializing in print and promotional products and services. This entrepreneurial experience enriches his legal practice, enabling him to understand the practical realities and challenges faced by his clients.

As a Managing Partner at MPL Law Firm, James leverages his broad business background and legal acumen to guide clients through complex mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations, and other critical business transactions. His depth of knowledge allows him to craft legal strategies that align with his clients’ business objectives, delivering effective legal solutions to mitigate risk and maximize value.

James is also deeply committed to serving his community. He is currently in his second term as a School Director on the York Suburban School Board, chairs the YMCA of the Roses Board, serves on the Ski Roundtop Racing Club Board, and acts as Treasurer for the York County Bar Association’s York Legal Record. His prior leadership roles include significant contributions to the Rotary Club of York, Children’s Home of York, Junior Achievement, SCORE, YSEF, and the York Suburban Lacrosse Club.

Outside of his professional and community endeavors, James enjoys a fulfilling family life with his wife, their three children, and their two dogs. Together, they actively participate in outdoor activities and local events, reflecting a strong commitment to family and community values.
