Barbara Smith

Barb is a paralegal with 50 years of experience in the legal field.  She primarily assists MPL attorneys in estate administration and estate and trust planning.  In this role, Barb drafts and finalizes estate administration and estate planning documents, enters and updates estate information in the Lackner system, and manages probate proceedings from initial filings through closing reports. This role also requires preparing Pennsylvania inheritance tax returns, inventories, securing required records, and communicating regularly with clients and attorneys. Additional tasks include filing with the Register of Wills, and assisting with real estate matters related to estates.  In addition, she assists with municipal work for MPL.

Barb has worked at MPL Law Firm for 35 years, with 31 of those years at Griest, Himes, Herrold, Reynosa LLP prior to the merger with MPL.  Barb began her legal career in 1975 as a filing clerk at a law firm in York.  She has focused on estates and trusts for 30+ years.
