Not Everyone You Lose is a Loss

I got a call from a client about one of their long-time staff members who has been very difficult to deal with.  As we discussed the situation more, it became readily apparent that this person needed to go.  However, my client was so frustrated that they did not want to handle the removal.   So, they kept going back to just ignoring the issue.  Does this sound familiar?

Dealing with a toxic team member involves setting boundaries, focusing on their behavior rather than their character, and making sure that your leadership team and professional business advisors (if needed) are all on the same page about handling this person.  It’s crucial to develop a plan, maintain a calm and professional demeanor, and be consistent with your actions, even if you’re dealing with challenging situations.

The bottom line is that open communication, maintaining composure and following through on a plan will provide you with the best course of action to deal with a toxic member of the team.

Just remember, not everyone you lose is a loss.
