Edward A. Stankoski
Edward A. “Ned” Stankoski, Jr. passed away on the evening of August 27, 2022. Ned was a 1970 graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and a 1974 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, earning a B. A. in Business Administration (Accounting). He received his Juris Doctor from Dickinson School of Law in 1977 and was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in October 1977. He was employed for two years in general legal practice in association with William F. Hoffmeyer, Esq. He was then employed for two years as Assistant Attorney General with the Department of Justice of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, concentrating in the medical malpractice area (Arbitration Panels for Healthcare). Ned joined the Tax Services Group of Miller & Co. LLP in 1981. In 1982 he was licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 1986 he was admitted to the partnership of Miller & Co. LLP, which by various mergers became Beard Miller LLP, and then ParenteBeard LLP. While serving as a Tax Partner, he engaged in all facets of local, Pennsylvania and Federal tax issues of individuals, partnerships, corporations, and especially estates and trusts. Ned retired as a partner from ParenteBeard LLP in December 2011, and from then to the date of his passing was Of Counsel with MPL Law Firm in York, Pennsylvania.
He was extremely proud of having provided over forty years of professional tax, legal and accounting services to his clients, developing lifelong relationships with them as well as his professional colleagues. Ned was a member of the Pennsylvania and York County Bar Associations, as well as various technical sections thereof.
Throughout his career, he has individually presented or participated in numerous tax, legal and educational programs and seminars for internal professional staff as well as outside community and civic organizations. In addition to his professional activities, he was involved in and served on the boards and committees of various civic, charitable and social organizations in York. He was a board member and officer of the York County Bar Association and is particularly proud of his participation in the creation of the York County Bar Foundation and his many years of service as a board member, a committee member and an officer, serving as both Treasurer and President to that organization over the years.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 45 years, Kathy Sheaffer Stankoski; a son, Anthony and his wife Nicole of Waxhaw, NC; a son Dean, presently of Worchester, MA; and his grandchildren and the lights of his life, Lily and Luke, children of Anthony and Nicole. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Susan Stankoski, her children and grandchildren.
MPL greatly appreciated the time we had with Ned and celebrates his life and accomplishments. Our thoughts and prayers are with the extended Stankoski family.
