Erik Spurlin is a Certified Elder Law Attorney practicing in the areas of estate planning and administration, long-term care planning (including nursing home & medicaid planning and guardianship), and tax planning. Prior to joining MPL, Erik had his own firm in Red Lion, York County. Prior to that, Erik was a principal of the Elder Law Firm of Robert Clofine, where he practiced estate planning and administration, long-term care planning, and tax planning.

Erik is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Pennsylvania Association of Elder Law Attorneys, Elder Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and Estate Planning and Probate Section of the York County Bar Association. He is also a Professional Adviser to Leave a Legacy York County. Erik frequently presents seminars to other lawyers as a lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, most recently presenting the following courses: Trust Planning (2020); Medicare Basics (2019); Fixing Broken Trusts (2018); Medicaid Basics (2018); Practical Medicaid Planning (2017); Medicaid Basics (2017); Guardianship Updates and Trends (2016); Protecting Assets While Qualifying for Medicaid (2016); Estate Planning for the Alzheimer’s Client (2015); and Guardianship Practice and Procedure (2015).
Erik earned his J.D., cum laude, from Temple University School of Law, where he also received his LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Taxation, with distinction. During this time, he earned a Certificate in Estate Planning and was the sole recipient of the Joseph Price Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Tax Law. Erik is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, and a master’s degree, summa cum laude, both in Political Science.
Erik is a Pennsylvania native and lives in York. He meets with clients at both the MPL office downtown and his Red Lion office. In his spare time, Erik enjoys music, fiction and stargazing.
